At some point or the other you may experience malware issues with Internet Explorer. Here are a few tips on removing malware so you can enjoy your time on the Internet. The most likely culprits are adware and spyware. These are types of malware that track your website visit and report the findings to advertising companies. A more serious type are the hijacker programs that control your browsing by hijacking your Internet Explorer. To rid yourself of these, use the following steps:

Open your Internet Explorer browser and click the “tools” section in the menu bar, then select options. Clear out your temporary Internet files and clear all of the cookies.

Select “view” and then “toolbars” to unclick all toolbars except for the default explorer bar.

There are free versions Spybot Search and Destroy and Ad-Aware. These are a couple of programs that will scan your system and search for malware. Once it finds these files you can then quarantine them or delete them to free up your system.

Be sure to run both programs and let them scan your entire system. This can take from a few minutes to an hour for each scan.

Once you have your report that is given to you by Spybot Search and Destroy and Ad-Aware, you can see what type of malware programs you may have. Look over this report and then perform remove any that you do not want. You don’t have to remove certain programs if you are using them even if they are listed. For instance, sometimes the Google Toolbar will be listed but is a program you use. Simply keep that program intact and remove any others you are not familiar with. A simple search can tell you what it is if you are not familiar with the program but want to be sure before you remove it.

Once you have finished this process just restart your computer and your Internet Explorer should be back up and running fine.
